On 23rd of October 2015 we had a class at usual. On that day, Dr Fariza had presented about Open Source Software. The term "open source" refers to something that can be modified and shared because its design is publicly accessible.Open source software is software whose source code is available for modification or enhancement by anyone.Because open source code can be accessed in public way , students may also try to make better software by studying what others have posted or written. Students can share their results of work among their peers too. besides, the others would be able to put comment and critique. This would enhance the collaboration among the students themselves. In addition, open source does not mean something with free of charge because Programmers can charge money for the open source software they create or to which they contribute. From this aspect, students would be able to know that they can actually make profit from the software that they created. But it is preferable whether you want to make it free or charged. looking from the other aspect of life "the open source way" means a willingness to share with other people, cooperating with others in ways that are transparent, embracing failure as a means of improving, and expecting—even encouraging—everyone else to do the same. These are some of value moral values that can be seen from the "open source way" and we can implement it in our daily life. At the end part of class, Dr Fariza asked us to make unless 20 survey questions in Google Form. This is another medium that you can create questionnaire instead of Survey Monkey that some of us might be used to. By doing this survey it encourage us to practice higher order thinking skills because it needed us to think from various aspect according to the topic that we have chosen. That is all from the class of today thank you
On 15th October, each group had presented their chosen topic during the evening class. My group consists of Izza Hazwani, Alia Aifa and I were lucky to be the first group to present our topic which is 21st century skills. The learning outcomes from the class today are we get to know more information on the topics presented by other groups such as; ICT, Thinking Skills and ICT, Original and Licensing Software, Open Source Software, Web 2.0 in Education and e-learning and mobile learning. Furthermore, all the things that have been presented today are all beneficial for us the future teaches to equip ourselves with the knowledge regarding sophisticated technology of today. In addition, it also enhance our communication and collaboration skills as we have to cooperate among the team mates and we have to present in front of the class which involve the interactions between the audience and the presenter. At the end of the class, we were asked by Dr Fariza to check whether our slides fulfill the requirement of CASPER or not. This is very important as each concept by CASPER may help presenter to get good slides for their presentation and next we were assigned to prepare 10 questions according to our topic. Some questions might be chosen to be in the final exam questions. This is also good because the students will be able to come up with the questions with different difficulties which required them to have a critical thinking. That is all for today and Thank you :)
On 9th October 2015, Dr Fariza assigned each group with different topics and my group consists of Iza, Aifa and I got a topic of 21st century skills. We were asked to prepare the slides regarding the topic. But were are not using the Microsoft Power Point. yes no longer. Now we have learned another feature in Google which is Google Slides. It is much more convenient because you can create a new presentation and edit with others at the same time. the interesting part about the Google Slides is the auto-save part. you do not have to worry even your internet to offline because it will auto-sync whenever you are back connected to the .Next, using the google drive you can prepare with a very simple slides. To me the simple slides are more interesting to be seen compared to the wordy slides because it takes two things to be listened and read at the same time.As a future teacher, we could share this with our students soon because this is one of the way we can make them integrated with the use of technology in ICT.
On 25th of September 2015 we had our very first class with Dr Fariza. Dr Fariza assigned the first assignment for our class T1 to have a google mail using our real name instead of having "glamour name" for the email address. Next, we were asked to create our signature consists of ; full name; programme; Faculty address; and phone's number. This is very important to ensure your official email and by having some information in your signature, the people who accept your email will know who you are and this can help to prevent from the fake account that might have certain intention. Everyone who has email account should have the official one because this can help you in academically. For example ; if a student wanted to hand the assignment through email, the lecturers would be able to recognise which student is and prohibit them from marking the wrong people.
After creating the email, our next task is to create a Dropbox account. Dropbox is a personal cloud storage service where it is widely used to backup any file. It is a secure action if you have a backup which may help you in case u lose any of the files Previously in our second class, Dr fariza taught us on the features of Weebly. We went through each of the features one by one starting from the theme, how to post, how to edit and add page, how to embed code and etc. In my opinion Weebly is much more easier compared to another websites because the features provided are very accessible. I have a Blogspot before this, but I enjoyed more dragging tools in Weebly. Weebly is a famous website too where people could share knowledge and information. My suggestion, if you are interested in business, you can edit your Weebly and post about the items that you are going to sell or promote. In short, there are many other advantages of Weebly that you can integrate with. Another example is, when you have an assignment you can post in Weebly, so at the end of semester or study, you have the proof that you have done all of the given assignments and other people can review it to for our goodness sake. Even exciting if you will attend an interview then you can show all of your work too.
on the same date of 2nd October 2015, we had another computer class for the evening session. In this class we were discussing about what is Learning Management System, Course Management System and Course Management System. We were given a chance to share our understanding about these three management system. The output that we could gain from this chapter is we get to know the difference between these three systems. Everybody must have to know about the characteristics from each system because it can help you to differentiate the role and function. In the meantime we were also introduced to Google Doc. I am so excited when i discovered this because it makes your group work easier where you are not necessarily have to held a meet up just to discuss . By using Google Doc you can merely have a discussion in it because you can edit other's work, others can edit you work and you can also have a chit chat in the provided chat box. The important thing that you can look forward through this Google Doc is about the time consuming because it helps you to settle your group work without wasting your time. At the end of the class, Dr Fariza held a Kahoot game. All I could say, it is not just a game for students to have fun. In fact, it tested the students memory regarding the subject.( because the question are based on what we have learned) As a future teacher ,this how you make your class to be fun instead of standing in front of class and give a lecture to the students because the students might feel sleepy in the class.
